My journey into People Analytics

I didn’t get into People Analytics through a traditional analytics path. I came up through HR and Recruiting — the real day-to-day work where you’re constantly making decisions that affect people, budgets, timelines, and outcomes. Long before I had a formal analytics title, I was already using data to run the business.

Early in my career, I learned quickly that instincts weren’t enough. In HR and recruiting, you’re dealing with volume, deadlines, and competing priorities. I started building simple trackers, formulas, and workload models because I needed answers — not guesses. Whether it was forecasting staffing needs, managing contingent labor, or figuring out why a process was breaking, I used data to make decisions that actually held up.

Asking better questions, getting lasting answers

That’s really how I got pulled into People Analytics. Not because I was chasing dashboards, but because I kept asking better questions:

  • Why is this happening?
  • What’s driving the trend?
  • How do we fix it in a way that lasts?

Over time, leaders started seeing the value in this approach.

My unique approach to People Analytics

I started in recruiting and HR, so I know the challenges that HR faces firsthand. I can share my experience, results, and how I helped change the perception of a business by providing actionable, data-driven insights.
